Reports About Market Issues

Since the release of Tibia Coins, we have been receiving reports about erroneous trades of Tibia Coins in the Market. We have thoroughly investigated this matter and would like to share our findings with you:

At the moment, there is no indication that Market offers, and thus Tibia Coins or gold, really disappear. The reported issues result from a lack of visible information about transactions: Players cannot correctly check that certain Market offers failed or were cancelled, but those transactions will still be processed correctly.

Affected players will not lose any Tibia Coins or gold due to this! It may take a while, though, until your balance will be updated properly with the respective amount of Tibia Coins or gold.

Nevertheless, we will try to improve the situation to avoid further confusion about such transactions. Thank you for your reports and your patience!

Experience Bug Due to Vouchers

This afternoon, we had to take all game worlds offline to fix a serious issue that allowed some players to gain increased experience rates. The bug occurred in the wake of implementing the announced compensation and voucher adjustments. We have fixed the issue in the meantime and game worlds are about to come back online within the next minutes.

What ingame effects did this experience bug have and how are we going to handle this?

Only some players could benefit from this issue and only under certain circumstances. The highest experience rate that was possible due to this bug amounted to eight-fold experience points per monster kill, but for most affected players it was less than that. Moreover, the bug was only online for about one hour. While this is indeed a very unfortunate effect, we still decided against resetting all game worlds. We consider the negative impact such a reset would produce to be higher and more severe than the effects of the aforementioned bug. A reset would affect every player who logged in after today's server save while only some players could benefit from the bug and for about one hour only. We hope you understand our decision.

Last but not least, we would like to sincerely apologise again for the trouble this has caused.

Changes in the Tibia Team

Together with CipSoft's managing directors, Tibia's product managers set the strategy, direction and general agenda for the development of Tibia. Moreover, they supervise and coordinate the internal development process, and they delegate tasks to the different developers and teams. Today, we would like to inform you about several changes in Tibia's product management.

You may have already read Shintao's name on the test board for the summer update 2015, where he took care of the thread about Tibia Coins and the Store. So let us introduce him officially now:
Shintao joined Tibia's product management some months ago and replaced Skagar, who has left CipSoft in the meantime. Beforehand, Shintao was already part of the Tibia team and - being a programmer himself - supervised the programmers working on Tibia. As product manager, his main focus is the further development of Tibia whereas Tibia's product manager Umrath, whom you most likely know already, mainly deals with operational tasks related to Tibia.

In addition, a big change will happen in Tibia's product management this month. After ten years of service, lead product manager Craban will leave CipSoft in July and pursue new opportunities and challenges. We would like to thank him for his years of dedicated work and the energy and commitment he has invested into Tibia. We wish him all the best and much success in his future endeavours!

Tibia's new lead product manager is someone who you may already know from the test servers and who has been diligently hunting bugs ever since he joined CipSoft back in 2009. Delany, who was CipSoft's first official tester and who has led the internal test team for the last three years, will take over the lead product manager position within the course of the next months. We are looking forward to the Tibian adventures ahead of us and wish Delany great success and satisfaction in his new role.

sometimes, you have to decide if you want to keep walking on the road you are on or if you take another path.

After four years, over 2800 posts on the boards, about 170 newstickers, over 140 news, and 17 featured articles the time has come for me, Tjured, to leave this road at the end of next week and to start a new journey.

Since I do not want to leave on the quiet, I will try to lay the test server in ashes for a last time.

During May and the first weeks of June, we were targeted by massive DDoS attacks which led to significant connection issues such as mass kicks, lag and login problems. Together with our service provider, we were working hard to mitigate the impact of these attacks as swiftly as possible. Unfortunately, though, resolving these problems took longer than we had hoped for.

We are aware that the negative effects of these attacks on your gameplay experience caused you frustration and disappointment. We regret that you had to put up with these issues over such an extended period of time and will offer the following compensation to help you recover your losses.

Compensation

Premium and Free Accounts

All players who logged into the game after May 1, 2015, 00:00 CEST, and before June 24, 2015, 17:00 CEST, will receive a double XP/skill voucher of 3 days. This voucher will be valid for one year from the date of issue (not the date of activation). This means that you will not be able to use this voucher anymore after its expiry date. This includes activated vouchers that have not been used up completely until then.

Premium Accounts

We conducted a thorough data analysis to identify premium players that were affected by the negative effects of the recent DDoS attacks. These players will be compensated individually depending on how much they were impacted:

Besides the aforementioned double XP/skill voucher of 3 days, they will receive an additional double XP/skill voucher. On top of that they will receive a third voucher which can either be a Premium Time voucher or yet another double XP/skill voucher - the choice is up to the player! We would like to point out again that the duration of these vouchers depends on the extent to which a player was affected according to our analysis.

Please note that this compensation has not been issued yet. We will hand out thecompensation in the course of July. As soon as we can provide a concrete date, we will let you know.

Please also read the general adjustments of double XP/skill vouchers below since these changes will also apply to the aforementioned compensation.

General Adjustments of Double XP/Skill Vouchers

Vouchers that were handed out as premium compensation for the connection problems back in 2013warning included a slider bar to extend the duration of the double XP/skill voucher by trading in compensated premium days. If you still have such a voucher and do not activate it until August 01, 2015, 00:00 CEST, the voucher will automatically be converted into a double XP/skill voucher. This means that it will not be possible anymore to choose between double XP/skill and Premium Time.

Moreover, with the release of the aforementioned compensation for the connection problems in May/June 2015, all double XP/skill vouchers will be adjusted as follows due to the player feedback we have received on this matter:

  • All double XP/skill vouchers will receive an expiry date. Double XP/skill vouchers that have been handed out so far will be set to expire on August 01, 2017, 00:00 CEST, which means that you will not be able to use these vouchers anymore after this date. This includes activated vouchers that have not been used up completely until then.
  • Double XP/Skill vouchers will no longer stack with each other. This means you can only use one at a time.
  • You will be able to pause double XP/skill vouchers via your account management page. Once activated, a voucher is active for at least 24 hours. Here is an example to illustrate how it works: You have a double XP/skill voucher of 3 days. You activate the voucher at 10:00 CEST on August 2, 2015, and pause it a few minutes later. Double XP/skill will be active for your account until 10:00 CEST on August 3, 2015, and one full day will be deducted from your voucher. So you still have a double XP/skill voucher of 2 days left.
  • If you do not pause a voucher, it will run until it has been used up completely. Please also note that if you have not spent a voucher completely before its expiry date, its remaining days of double XP/skill cannot be used anymore after this date.

    As mentioned, these changes will be released together with the compensation in the course of July.

    We would like to thank you for your immense patience and understanding during these troubled weeks. Rest assured that the protection of our servers against DDoS attacks remains a crucially important topic for us and we will do our best to improve our infrastructure and DDoS mitigation further.
