Movement Revamp for the Tibia 11 Client
Wziumajka on 23 January 2017 16:45:32 · 0 Comments · 593 Reads
With today's Tibia 11 client update, we addressed the movement issues we received feedback on from our community. The following changes have been implemented to make your character's movement as similar to the old stand-alone client as possible:
  • We reduced the movement delay which occurred after changing floors via ladders or stairs, for example.
  • Using potions or casting spells while walking is now working as in the old client.
  • We fixed some issues which under certain circumstances caused stuttered movement and snap-backs while walking.
  • Additional steps at the end of a walking command should no longer occur.
  • If a movement key is still pressed while you release a modifier key, your character now starts walking in the desired direction.
  • Key commands are now more responsive when pressed in close succession.

Further information: If you are moving via your numeric pad and experience your character to continuously walk in one direction even if you have already released the key, we highly recommend deactivating your numeric lock (num lock).

Once again, we want to thank everyone who gave feedback. It helped a lot to address the issues. So please do not hesitate to provide further feedback if you are still experiencing difficulties.

Have fun,

Interim DDoS Protecion System for Tibia 11
Wziumajka on 20 January 2017 16:08:39 · 0 Comments · 650 Reads
We are currently working on a new automatic system for a better protection against DDoS attacks. Since this takes some time, though, we have implemented an interim step to improve the current situation. The interim solution, that was implemented for the Tibia 11 client for now, should better the playing experience for many players already.

After you have entered your account data in the Tibia 11 client login window, you will see a new checkbox in the following character selection window. It is unticked by default. If you tick it, you will enable an external DDoS protection for your playing session. As a result, your game play will be less likely to be affected by an ongoing DDoS attack, and your connection might be improved.

For some players, though, enabling this external DDoS protection system might unfortunately result in the contrary: a higher latency and possible lag spikes. That might also be the case if you are using a tunnel service. We suggest you turn off the tunnel service first in case you are using one before you disable the DDoS protection system again, in order to make sure that the problems are not only caused by the tunnel service.

We sincerely hope that this interim step will alleviate the negative consequences of DDoS attacks for many players already. As mentioned above, we are working on an automatic solution. However, for the time being, we ask you to manually choose whether you would like to use this new system for your connection or not.

Thank you very much for your understanding, and we apologise for the troubles!

Death Compensation in December 2016
Wziumajka on 20 January 2017 16:05:37 · 0 Comments · 586 Reads
Back in December 2016, we provided you with a chart about the number of character deaths in Tibia that were not a result of PvP. This data illustrated that the quota of regular deaths during DDoS attacks does not differ significantly compared to times without massive attacks. This means that there is a high chance that character deaths caused by DDoS attacks are identified as such and are compensated automatically by our protection system for character deaths.

From the beginning of December on, though, we received more and more feedback from players pointing out that this protection system does not work properly anymore since deaths which were caused by DDoS attacks were not compensated anymore. Of course, we took these reports seriously and immediately started investigations. A thorough analysis revealed that technical countermeasures which we had initiated together with our service partners against DDoS attacks indeed underminded the protection system and prevented it from working as intended.
Since the malfunction of the protection system resulted from a technical issue on our side, we have decided to retroactively compensate all regular PvE deaths that happened between December 10, 2016, 00:00 CET and January 18, 2017, 00:00 CET. Please note that you may need to log out and in again in order to receive the compensation. If the compensation is still missing after re-logging, please try again later today.

We have provided a chart for you which clearly shows that the system did not work properly between December 11 and January 17: both the number of deaths for which the death penalty was reduced to zero (orange bars) and the number of deaths which were compensated retroactively by XP, skill, and blessing charms (blue bars) were considerably lower than before despite ongoing DDoS attacks. Of course, we have already addressed the cause of this issue and since January 18, the protection system is working as intended again which you can also see in the increased number of compensated deaths in the chart. By the way, the increased numbers of total deaths around November 19 and afterwards are a result of double XP/skill time and three new Open PvP game worlds.

Please accept our most sincere apologies for this issue and the painful experiences it has caused you. We are truly sorry that we have failed to live up to your expectations and will do our best to improve our services. We would like to thank you for your immense patience and for providing us with valuable feedback. Thank you for standing by us even in difficult times.

Be assured that we are constantly working in close collaboration with our service partners to increase the protection of our servers against such malicious DDoS attacks.

Kind regards,

Once more, it is time to support the witches of the green claw swamp. Help them brew their powerful mixture to protect Tibia from a destructive force.

obrazek
The world event Bewitched will start tomorrow, January 12, after server save. Supply the witches with the needed ingredients for their magical brewage, and protect their cauldron from the bane-bringers. Who knows, you might even get the chance to fight their leader, the bane lord.
Gather enough ingredients and keep the cauldron boiling until January 16, server save, in order to succeed. A special book which you can find in the green claw swamp will provide you with further information on the event and your task.

In case of success, your entire game world will be rewarded with an experience bonus of 20%, and a slightly reduced death penalty for 10 days. In addition, by contributing to the event you can earn favour points which you can trade for potions with Minzy.

Fill the cauldron!
